....with the Winds

In this old picture, one can see the steam billowing from MT. REDNER, a volcano that stood at Seventh Avenue at Fifteenth Street in YBOR CITY. It was so named because, during many eruptions, it kept losing its top.  The City of Tampa, slow to recognize the commercial potential of an active volcano, sold it to a small town in Italy.

This is another picture taken about sixty thousand years ago, long before COLUMBUS left Ohio for the new world.. On this site was built a small mosquito breeding station that laid the foundation for prehistoric YBOR. When the world wide demand for mosquitos petered out the place was sold to a midget from Rome who opened a theme park called ITS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL.

This Tampa prior to the earthquake of 1797.
